DIY Infused Coffee
Our coffee snobbery took a new turn the other night.
We’ve been grinding our own coffee beans for awhile now. That was the first step to coffee snobbery. Pre-ground is just wrong.
When at all possible we buy locally roasted coffee now, and trust us…it’s always possible.
We usually drink our coffee dark, black and pure. Sometimes Ranger will add some hazelnut cream, just because he’s fancy like that.
The other night I got a little crazy. Maybe it’s something in our new home that’s cozy and bright and makes me want to curl up with a blanket and mug. But i brewed coffee after dark. Nevermind that the caffeine kept me up half the night, it was worth it.
Even if your not tired of the ho-hum coffee, this is a fun way to mix it up from time to time. You know, to keep your coffee complacency to a minimum 😉 We all now know the dangers of being complacent.
I’m still playing but here are two of my favorite DIY infused coffee recipes.
Cinnamon Spice and Everything Nice Recipe
1/2 cup coffee grounds
1tsp cinnamon, 1/4 tsp cardamon, 1/4 tsp nutmeg, and 1/8 tsp ginger
Just mix all the spices into the coffee grounds well and go ahead and brew.
1/2 Cup coffee grounds
Grated chocolate (I used coacoa nubs. I bet you could even try coco powder)
Orange zest of about 1/2 an orange. I did ours Dehydrated (in a warm over for a few hours) and grated. I also did fresh orange zest but i feel like there was more orange flavor from the dehydrated peel.
Mix the chocolate, zest and grounds together real good and brew away.
Adjust the measurements to the amount you brew and your flavoring likings. Add more, add less. Truly it’s up to you.
I will say that I did try to make steamed milk in a saucepan. It was a miserable fail. So stayed tune, I’m working on some other fancy things.
